Messier 34 is an Open Cluster that consists of about 100 bright starts.  It is about 1,400 light years from Earth and is an estimated 180 million years young.  At a bright mag 5.2, it is visible to the naked eye under good conditions, in binoculars it should sparkle.  Finding it should be easy as it follows the Andromeda Galaxy's trail, and rises about 1.5 hours later.  This image was taken on Nov 13, 2004 under seasonaly cold sky.
