IC 405
The Flaming
Star Nebula, IC 405 is a very large star forming region of
Emission Nebula (red) and Reflection Nebula (blue) which is illuminated
by
the bright star. It is about 1,600 light years away from
Earth. This image is a composite from two night's of
exposure, Nov 8 and 9, 2004. Hydrogen Alpha Luminance shots
on the first night and RGB shots on the second for a total HaRGB
composite of 90:30:30:30. Unfortunately the camera was not
oriented the same way on the second session causing one night's to be
rotated to match the other. The effects of this can be seen in
the corners of the shot.
