The Owl
Nebula,
M97 is along the bottom of the bowl of the Big
Dipper. It is a planetary nebula about 2,600 light
years away. The greenish central nebula is surounded
by a fainter
outer red shell of nebulous material. The image is composed
of
11 images of 5 minutes each with LRGB exposure times of 40:5:5:5
minutes. This image was taken on Jan 31, 2004 with a 3/4
moon illuminating the sky.
